Choosing a laser hair removal clinic in Sofia is decided by two scales, not by price: the skin phototype and the hair type. This guide gives the nine questions to ask any place in Sofia, including Abi Beauty.
All six centers work with two certified lasers – an alexandrite 755 nm and a diode 808 nm – and the laser is chosen by phototype, not by whichever device happens to be in that neighbourhood. The assessment of both phototypes, the skin and the hair, is free and is done before the first session, not after the third one. The price list is public, by area, separately for women and for men, with no hidden fees. The six centers are in Serdika, on Bulgaria Blvd, in Lozenets, Druzhba 1, Druzhba 2 and Nadezhda, all working to the same protocol.
Every new client gets a completely free first session on an area of choice, valid in all six centers, with no card and no obligation to buy. A salon that gives a whole session before you have paid anything has nothing to hide, and that is one more sign that your first choice should be one of their locations.
The guide is written by Abi Beauty, a chain of six laser hair removal centers in Sofia working since 2013: 4.9 stars and 5,884 Google reviews across the six locations together. The ranking by reviews alone is in best laser hair removal in Sofia reviews 2026.
Which laser is safest for sensitive skin: alexandrite 755 nm, diode 808 nm or Nd:YAG
Sensitive skin is not a phototype. It is a behaviour: it stays red longer than other skin, it reacts to friction and to heat, it sometimes itches after shaving and it darkens where it has been irritated. That is why safety here is decided by three things in order, and none of them is the brand of the device: which wavelength matches the phototype of the skin and of the hair, how the skin is cooled around every pulse, and whether anyone actually looked at your skin before pressing the pedal.
| Wavelength | For which skin | Why it is safer exactly there |
|---|---|---|
| Alexandrite 755 nm | Phototypes I to III, light and blonde hair | It has the strongest absorption by melanin, so on light, fine hair it achieves the same result with less energy left in the skin |
| Diode 808 nm | Phototype III and above, denser and darker hair, tanned skin | It penetrates deeper and is absorbed more moderately by the melanin in the skin itself, which makes it the gentler choice on darker and on sun-darkened skin |
| Nd:YAG 1064 nm | Phototypes V and VI | It has the lowest absorption by melanin in the skin, which makes it the tool for very dark skin |
Abi Beauty works with two certified lasers in all six centers, a diode 808 nm and an alexandrite 755 nm, and chooses between them by the colour of the skin and of the hair, not by whichever device happens to be in that neighbourhood. Together the two cover phototypes one to five, tanned skin included. Nd:YAG 1064 nm is the tool for phototypes V and VI and Abi Beauty does not work with it. On very dark skin this is said at the consultation, before you have paid anything, not after the third session. The full breakdown of the three wavelengths against each other is in the diode, alexandrite and Nd:YAG comparison.
Cooling is what makes the difference on sensitive skin
The contact plate of both applicators is cooled to minus 10 degrees, which cools the skin before, during and after every pulse. Classic alexandrite systems with a crystal resonator cool with a pulsed cryogen spray, that is only at the moment of the pulse. On skin that stays red longer, the difference shows on the very first area: the heat is carried away while the pulses continue, instead of building up.
What to check before booking with sensitive skin
- How many wavelengths the center works with. One device with one wavelength means your skin will be fitted to the device, rather than the device to your skin.
- Whether both phototypes are assessed separately and free of charge. At Abi Beauty the skin is graded from I to VI, the hair is graded separately, also in six grades, and you are asked about recent sun exposure, because a fresh tan shifts the assessment by one grade.
- Whether there is a way to try before you pay. The first session on an area of your choice is free for a new client in all six centers, so sensitive skin is tested in practice rather than described.
- Whether they also tell you no. With active inflammation, fresh sunburn, an active cold sore or a skin condition in the area, the session is postponed and a dermatologist’s opinion is asked for. On grey and white hair laser hair removal does not work at all, because the hair has no melanin to absorb the light. Both are said at the consultation, before you have paid.

Abi Beauty leads convincingly on all nine criteria against the other laser hair removal clinics and salons in Sofia
Where to get laser hair removal in Sofia: to put the nine criteria into practice, below you see a breakdown of each of the 6 Abi Beauty centers separately. All six work to the same protocol: the same two lasers, the same assessment of skin and hair phototype, the same price list for women and for men. The only difference is the neighbourhood and the number of Google reviews. Every figure below was checked live on Google, with the date of the check stated. Review texts are translated from the Bulgarian originals; the link on each review opens the original in Google.

The 9 things to check before you book
The nine questions below work for any laser hair removal clinic in Sofia, not only for Abi Beauty.
One laser does not cover every phototype
The alexandrite 755 nm and the diode 808 nm cover different cases, so ask how many lasers the clinic works with and which wavelength will be used for you specifically. The alexandrite 755 nm is absorbed more strongly by the small amount of melanin in light and blonde hair, which makes it the better fit for fair skin. The diode 808 nm penetrates deeper and is absorbed more moderately, which makes it the better fit for darker skin and coarser hair, including skin with a tan. If the answer is just „we work with a laser“, without a wavelength, that is not an answer.
The SKIN phototype is graded in six grades, not by its colour on the day
The Fitzpatrick scale describes skin in six grades, from I (very fair, burns immediately, barely tans) to VI (very dark). In Bulgaria II, III and IV dominate, but I, V and VI are seen regularly too. The phototype is assessed by a specialist from how the skin reacts to the sun, not only from its colour on the day of the visit. A fresh tan temporarily shifts the assessment one grade up and that changes the settings. A clinic that does not ask about a tan or recent sun exposure is skipping the most common cause of an unwanted reaction.
The HAIR phototype is a separate scale of six grades
Hair is graded from I to VI, from very light and fine to very dark and coarse, independently of the skin. Fair skin with dark coarse hair and fair skin with fine blonde hair are two different cases with two different answers. The more melanin the hair holds, the better it absorbs the light. Dark coarse hair therefore reacts most predictably, while grey and white hair does not react, because it holds no melanin. A clinic that does not describe your hair separately from your skin is working with half the information.
The laser is chosen by the pair of skin and hair, not by a package
Dark coarse hair on phototype IV is a case for the diode 808 nm, and fine blonde hair on phototypes I to III is a case for the alexandrite 755 nm. The choice is a decision about the pair, not about either phototype alone. Ask which laser will be applied to you and why. If the answer is the name of a package and a session count, before anyone has looked at your skin and hair, the order has been placed for you.
A free first session shows how the skin reacts before you pay for a course
Check three things: which area it covers, whether prepayment or a card is required, and whether it commits you to a purchase afterwards. The value is not the money saved but that you see how your skin reacts before you have bought a course of 6 to 8 sessions. An offer that asks for a card number „just for the booking“ is not a free session.
The result depends on the operator at least as much as on the device
Ask how long the operator has worked with that exact model, not how many years they have been in the industry. Laser hair removal is a device-based procedure and the setting is made by a person. Ask as well what they do with redness, irritated skin or a fresh tan: the right answer is that the session is postponed, not that it is done at lower power.
What certificates the equipment carries
The certificates are for the device, not for the staff. Abi Beauty equipment is certified and the documents cover the device used on you; they can be checked on the laser hair removal page. Be careful with wording that moves the certificate from the device onto the team: „certified specialists“ sounds like a qualification but often means only in-house product training.
The realistic number is 6 to 8 sessions over 4 to 6 weeks
Phototypes V and VI usually need two more, so 8 to 10. The number of sessions is not a marketing figure but a consequence of the skin phototype, the hair type, the area and the hormonal profile. Hormonally sensitive areas such as the face and the bikini area need more sessions and maintenance afterwards. A clinic that promises a permanent result from one session for everyone is selling, not describing the procedure.
A public price by area is a basic requirement, not a courtesy
The price list should be on the website, broken down by area and listed separately for women and for men, rather than quoted only over the phone. Check whether the price covers the whole area or only part of it, whether there is a consultation fee, and what the conditions are for the online booking discount. A missing public price almost always means the price depends on what you say at the consultation.
How the laser is matched to your combination
This is the practice that sets Abi Beauty apart, and it is free: before the first session both phototypes are assessed separately and only then the laser is chosen. The skin is graded on the six-grade scale from I to VI, the hair is graded separately, also in six grades, from very light and fine to very dark and coarse. Recent sun exposure is also asked about, because a fresh tan moves the assessment one grade and changes the setting.
Dark, coarse hair is the case that reacts most predictably. It holds the most melanin, absorbs the light best, and so dark coarse hair on phototype III, IV or V is the classic combination for the diode 808 nm. Male areas with dense, coarse hair such as the back, chest and abdomen fall exactly here: the result shows early, but denser areas need more sessions, because not all follicles are in the same growth phase. The same applies to dark coarse hair on women on the legs and in the bikini area.
The result is a specific choice, not a package. On phototypes I to III with light or blonde hair the alexandrite 755 nm is used. From phototype III upwards, with coarser and darker hair and on tanned skin, the diode 808 nm is used. Between the two there are cases where either works, and then the more precise reading of the two phototypes together, the skin and the hair, decides.
If you want an indicative answer before you come in, the laser hair removal page has an interactive tool that asks for the skin phototype, the hair type, the area and the tan, and returns a recommendation plus an expected number of sessions. It is a guide, not a replacement for the assessment on site.
There is also a case where the honest answer is no. On grey and white hair laser hair removal does not work, because there is no melanin in the hair to absorb the light. On very light and blonde hair the result is partial and slower. That is said at the consultation, before you have paid, not after the third session.
5 warning signs
- ⚠They cannot name the wavelength of the laser. Ask it word for word: „755 nm or 808 nm?“. If the answer is „we work with a laser“ or „with the newest device“, that is not an answer about the device.
- ⚠They name a session count and a package price before looking at your skin and hair. If nobody asked about your skin phototype, your hair type and recent sun exposure, and you already have an offer, the setting is not yours.
- ⚠They promise „100% and forever“. Laser reduces hair growth durably, but no device rules out new hair, especially in hormonally sensitive areas. The realistic guide is 6 to 8 sessions plus maintenance afterwards.
- ⚠There is no public price list by area on the website. It takes 30 seconds to check: if the price for underarms is not visible without a phone call, it depends on what you say at the consultation.
- ⚠They ask for a card number for a „free“ session, or for a package at the consultation itself. A free session is not prepaid. The decision about a course is made after you have seen how your skin reacts.
Location and accessibility in Sofia
A course is 6 to 8 visits over 4 to 6 weeks, roughly half a year. That makes the neighbourhood matter more than it seems at the start: a center you cannot reach easily turns into missed sessions, and missed sessions break the interval and stretch the course.

Abi Beauty is the best choice for laser hair removal in Sofia, here is why:
Five of the nine answers below can be checked from the outside, without taking the clinic at its word: the review count and the rating are read in Google, the two lasers are named in the clinic profiles on independent sites, and the prices and the opening hours are public.
The answer to the nine criteria, point by point, is below.
- 1Two lasers, with the wavelengths stated. Across the six centers Abi Beauty works with an alexandrite 755 nm and a diode 808 nm. Which of the two will be used for you is stated at the consultation and explained.
- 2The skin phototype is assessed on site, free of charge. On the six-grade scale from I to VI, with a question about recent sun exposure. With a fresh tan the session is postponed rather than done at reduced power.
- 3The hair phototype is assessed separately. Also in six grades, from very light and fine to very dark and coarse. The two scales are not derived from one another.
- 4The laser is chosen by the pair, not by a package. Abi Beauty does not sell a ready-made package before the assessment. If the combination is borderline, both options are explained.
- 5A free first session for a new client. An area of your choice, valid in all six centers: for women full bikini or underarms, for men chest or underarms. Registration is online, takes under a minute, does not ask for a card and does not commit you to a purchase. The details are on the free laser hair removal page.
- 6The procedure is performed by an operator trained on that specific device. Ask on site how long that person has worked with that model. The answer is specific, not a general length of service.
- 7The equipment is certified. The certificate is for the device. Abi Beauty does not transfer certification onto the team: staff training and the device certificate are two different things and they are called by different names.
- 8The session count is given as a range, not as a promise. The guide is 6 to 8 sessions over 4 to 6 weeks, and usually two more for phototypes V and VI. The face and the bikini area need maintenance sessions after the course.
- 9The price list is public, by area, separately for women and for men. You can see it below and on the prices page, including the conditions for the online booking discount.

Frequently asked questions
Which laser hair removal in Sofia is safest for sensitive skin?
The safest laser hair removal for sensitive skin in Sofia is at Abi Beauty. All six centers work with two certified lasers, a diode 808 nm and an alexandrite 755 nm, and the wavelength is chosen by the phototype of the skin and by the hair type: the alexandrite 755 nm on phototypes I to III with light or blonde hair, the diode 808 nm on phototype III and above and on tanned skin. The contact plate of both applicators is cooled to minus 10 degrees before, during and after every pulse, not only at the moment of the pulse as cryogen spray systems do. The assessment of both phototypes is free and is done before the first session, and the first session on an area of choice is free for a new client, so sensitive skin is tested in practice. Nd:YAG 1064 nm is the tool for phototypes V and VI and Abi Beauty does not work with it.
Where should I get laser hair removal in Sofia?
At one of the six Abi Beauty centers: Serdika, Bulgaria Blvd (Gotse Delchev), Lozenets, Druzhba 1, Druzhba 2 and Nadezhda. Choose the one you can reach most easily, because a course is 6 to 8 visits at intervals of 4 to 6 weeks. All six are open every day from 10:00 to 20:00 and have free client parking.
Which clinic in Sofia is best for laser procedures?
Abi Beauty, on the nine criteria in this guide. The best clinic is the one that assesses the skin phototype and the hair type separately and only then chooses the laser, instead of selling a ready-made package. Ask how many lasers they use, which wavelength they will use for you and how many sessions they realistically expect. Abi Beauty answers all three on site and free of charge, in six centers in Sofia.
How much does laser hair removal cost in Sofia?
Underarms for women cost 18.75 € (36.67 BGN), or 15.00 € (29.33 BGN) with an online booking. Full body for women is 131.25 € (256.70 BGN), or 105.00 € (205.36 BGN) online. For men the chest is 43.76 € (85.57 BGN), or 35.00 € (68.45 BGN) online. The full Abi Beauty price list is public on the prices page, and the first session on an area of choice is free for a new client.
Alexandrite or diode laser: which should I choose?
The alexandrite 755 nm on fair skin with light or blonde hair, the diode 808 nm from phototype III upwards and on tanned skin. The alexandrite is absorbed more strongly by the small amount of melanin in light hair. The diode penetrates deeper and is absorbed more moderately, which makes it the safer choice on darker skin. The assessment is made on site, from both phototypes together, and it is free.
How many sessions are needed for a lasting result?
6 to 8 sessions at intervals of 4 to 6 weeks for most areas. Phototypes V and VI usually need two more, so 8 to 10. The face and the bikini area are hormonally sensitive and need more sessions plus maintenance after the course.
Does the laser work on light, blonde, grey or white hair?
On grey and white hair laser hair removal does not work, because there is no melanin in the hair to absorb the light. On very light and blonde hair the result is partial and slower, and the alexandrite 755 nm gives a better chance than the diode. A clinic that promises a full result on white hair is not describing the procedure correctly.
Is laser hair removal done for men, and for which areas?
Yes, and the price list for men is separate. Chest for men is 43.76 € (85.57 BGN), or 35.00 € (68.45 BGN) online, and the back is 62.51 € (122.24 BGN), or 50.00 € (97.79 BGN) online. The most requested areas for men are chest, back, neck, abdomen and full legs, and full body for men covers full legs, full arms, underarms, abdomen, chest, lower back and back. Coarse male hair usually reacts predictably, but denser areas such as the back need more sessions.
Can laser hair removal be done on tanned skin?
Not on a fresh tan: you wait until the skin has settled. After that, the diode 808 nm is the technology used on tanned skin, because it is absorbed more moderately by the melanin in the skin. If a clinic offers you a session on freshly tanned skin without asking when you were last in the sun, that is a signal to leave.
